How Mobile Can Someone Be Today?

Did you ever stop and think about how mobile we truly can be today vs. 20 years ago?   I was thinking about my college days and remembered being mobile was having enough quarters to use a payphone when I was away from home.  Today, our mobile devices allow us to communicate with people virtually anywhere at anytime.  But besides talking and text messaging our mobile devices can do a lot more.

One example is my work-provided BlackBerry Bold.  Through this device I can talk and text message, but that is just the beginning.  With my BlackBerry Bold I can send and receive emails as if I were on my PC.  In addition, I can open attachments in my emails that are in Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint.  Within this device I can also sync with my Outlook calendar without connecting to my PC.  This allows me to accept meetings through my BlackBerry Bold and have them appear on my Outlook calendar anytime, anyplace.

In addition to the ones I mention above on my BlackBerry Bold, there are even more applications for those who want to be more mobile.  As with most mobile devices it allows users to browse the internet.  However; it also gives people the opportunity to use applications such as YELLOWPAGES.COM Mobile, AT&T Navigator, music including XM Radio, and several other applications.  Plus you can play games including Texas Hold’Em King 2, take pictures, film video and lots more.  It is amazing how many things someone can actually do from their mobile device.

See how mobile you can be from your device?  What applications do you use?

    I heart Pandora!

I’m a BIG music fan. If I had to choose between TV and music, I would definitely choose music. I downloaded this new app on my Bold called Pandora. It’s a music application, and I am loving it! It helps create your own “style station” of music. So, for example, you can put an artist’s name in and it will create a playlist for you and include similar tunes by different artists.

You can also skip ahead if a song comes on that you don’t like. Speaking of songs, have you heard the song called “Sissy’s Song” by Alan Jackson? Even if you don’t like country music, you will love this song. It is the most beautifully written song I’ve heard in awhile. It hits home for me as it was played at my aunt’s funeral last week.

Pandora is my new thing. I’m sure I’ll have more faves to come soon since the Blackberry app store (www.blackberry.com/appworld) just launched. If you haven’t checked it out, you must! Oh, and don’t forget to check out “Sissy’s Song” and tell me what you think.

    Trade Up??? Really???

Check this out … you all know how big of a fan I am of my BlackBerry Bold. Wouldn’t you like one as well? There this great program called the BlackBerry Bold Trade Up Program. It gives you cash towards the purchase of a new BlackBerry smartphone when you trade in your old device. I checked it out online and it seems really easy!

There are 4 simple steps, and bam! You’re on your way to having a Bold! Pretty awesome, right? Check it out at www.blackberry.com/go/atttradeup. Let me know if it’s as simple as it seems.

    Are you on Facebook?

I love the Facebook application I’m using on my BlackBerry Bold.  It’s so easy to use and available at www.facebook.com/blackberry. I’m notified instantly when friends send a message or comment on my wall. If I receive a friend request, it comes to my phone, and I’m able to accept and increase my network.

I can also write on my friend’s wall, send a message, or check their status. I even update my own as often as I like. Since I enjoy sharing and receiving pictures, I love that I can take a picture from the phone and upload it to my page for all of my friends to see. It’s a fun way to keep me connected as well as add some simple and easy fun to my day. It’s so great!  Anyone else have Facebook on their phone?

    Shopping made easy

So blogs are typically short entries, right? This should be interesting for me because once I get on a roll talking (or writing in this case!) I can go on forever. I’ll do my best to be brief.

I absolutely love my device (a work-provided BlackBerry Bold)! I could not live without it. It keeps me connected to everything that is important and necessary in my life, both personally and professionally.  Let me tell you how dependent I’ve become on the picture messaging option on my BlackBerry. It was a recent Saturday and I had to work. My husband took over the duty of picking up a couple gifts for me that day. Well, throughout the day (ok SEVERAL times throughout the day) I would check it and at one point he was asking which size of an item to get. I couldn’t picture the size difference just by his words, so finally I told him to send me a picture. So he snapped a picture and sent it on over. Within a couple minutes, I’d made my decision, and he was out of there (which made him VERY happy because he was DONE!). It was great because neither of us were frustrated because I couldn’t visualize the items. It made for a smooth shopping experience for both of us!
