Bunko night was almost a total loss. I wouldn’t have been able to stand it as this is the only night I can get away from it all – work, kids, and the husband. When you look forward to something the way I look forward to this night, getting lost is not acceptable. Fortunately, my friend had a BlackBerry Curve and saved the day. She whipped it out, accessed its GPS, and we were on our way.

I heart Pandora!

I’m a BIG music fan. If I had to choose between TV and music, I would definitely choose music. I downloaded this new app on my Bold called Pandora. It’s a music application, and I am loving it! It helps create your own “style station” of music. So, for example, you can put an artist’s name in and it will create a playlist for you and include similar tunes by different artists.

You can also skip ahead if a song comes on that you don’t like. Speaking of songs, have you heard the song called “Sissy’s Song” by Alan Jackson? Even if you don’t like country music, you will love this song. It is the most beautifully written song I’ve heard in awhile. It hits home for me as it was played at my aunt’s funeral last week.

Pandora is my new thing. I’m sure I’ll have more faves to come soon since the Blackberry app store (www.blackberry.com/appworld) just launched. If you haven’t checked it out, you must! Oh, and don’t forget to check out “Sissy’s Song” and tell me what you think.

Let me tell you how my husband got busted recently. Since I liked mine so much, I gave him a Palm. To my surprise, he resisted, saying he didn’t need it since he only uses his phone to make and receive calls.

We recently celebrated our 28th wedding anniversary; he surprised me by having flowers delivered to the office on Friday. Then, on Sunday morning (our actual wedding date), I was awakened by his phone alert noise. He came in the room and said “Sorry to wake you … that was my phone reminding me to tell you Happy Anniversary.” Caught, red-handed! You see, he started using his phone to remind him of important dates, which is (fortunately) keeping him out of hot water.

Cell phones are the new peace of mind

While on vacation last week, I went into panic mode after I left my 15 year old son at home for a short period of time and discovered my cell phone was dead. I felt so helpless. What if he needed me and I wasn’t available? It donned on me that wireless service, to an extent, provides peace of mind because I’m usually just a phone call away. Do you feel helpless without your phone?

Phones can really do all that?

While making lunch plans with my friend the other day, she pulled out her phone and added our plans to her calendar. I asked what all she used her phone for, and her reply was, “You mean my ‘life’ phone?” She went on to say that she uses it to schedule her daily activities, and sends and receives alerts for meetings and birthdays. She keeps her shopping and “honey-do” lists on her phone. She also reads the news and pays bills online using her phone while waiting for the doctor or watching a TV show in the evening. She admitted to not having turned on her laptop in weeks. That makes me wonder if phones are replacing functions we typically do on our PCs. What do you think? Anyone use their phone more than their laptop?

Picture Quality is Important

One of the things I love about my Palm® Centro is the picture quality. It’s great. It totally makes my day to receive a picture of my youngest granddaughter showing me what she is playing with, or my son to send me a picture of himself at lunch with his friends. It’s a great way for working moms to stay connected.

Is it time to upgrade your phone?

Someone recently asked how do you know when to upgrade your phone?

For me, I was happy with my Motorola RAZR until my son sent me a text and I couldn’t reply. Okay, I could reply, just not in a timely manner. I found texting confusing without a key board and I don’t need any more confusion in my life. I realized if I wanted to keep in touch with him I was going to have to learn to text. So I upgraded to the Palm® Centro just for the key board. In just a short day or two, I learned how to send and receive text messages. It’s so easy. I love it!
