Amen – I say Amen!! What did we do before cell phones and texting??????? Both are lifesavers when keeping track of kids and spouses. We’ve used it at concerts and huge high school graduations. Where are you, where are our seats, do you need anything to eat? All major questions that are easily answered and lots of time and trouble saved! Great post – keep up the good work…

Cell phones sure have made life a lot easier to stay in touch especially in crowded places like theme parks. Then to add texting so you don’t even have to ‘talk’, just read and do what needs to be done. This is a super use of texting even for the older folks who aren’t texting all the time! There are a ton of uses for this and it is really handy.

Thanks for the reminder about summer-fun. I’m on a ferris wheel today, but it’s not the same. Seriously, I like the text messaging feature also. I can text message my husband at the airport. He usually goes to pick up the car from long-term parking and I get the luggage. That way I let him know when I’m ready at the curb for pick up. Just love that unlimited text message plan from AT&T!

I agree with you 100%! Whatever did we do before cell phones and text messages! Great way to keep in touch at the amusement park, mall or wherever! Thanks Becky!

Even I have to admit that having a cell phone which I hated at first has now become an important part of my lifestyle and with kids, what a great way to be able to communicate at will!

I have to admit that I am nervous about the kids getting their first cell phone! But…as we are a very active family with the oldest being 13 and the youngest at 5, the older ones don’t always want to be stuck with us – so this does seem like a resonable way to keep in contact!!

Hey, what a great idea, especially when you have several children to keep up with. I must say, though, that we didn’t let our son have a cell phone until he was much older! I can definitely see the advantage in your case, however. I’ve even gotten into the “texting” mode from time to time, imagine that for a non-techy! Keep the good ideas coming! BTW, I admire you for even getting on most of those rides…

Your comment about texting for those times when you can’t (or shouldn’t?) hear the phone ring is thought provoking… us ‘older’ cell phone users might otherwise have said “why don’t you just call?”

great tips! I honestly prefer texting over using my cellphone to make calls

I wished we’d have had cellphones when I was growing up for those family outings lol

I use texting for my family also. My kids are too little to be off on their own but my hubby and I along with my parents or who ever I am with use it to stay in contact. It can be used for really crowded malls also. I love to shop in one store and let my mom shop in another and we text each other to let each other know where we are at.

What a great idea! I’ve always told myself I will wait until my kids are old enough to drive until I get them a cell phone. I know there’s many perks to them having one before then, but I never thought of this texting as a way to keep in touch when out and about. Thanks!

Great tips! Texting is easier at times when a phone call just isn’t that necessary. Thanks!

Walkie talkies and pursh to talk features are also great for use at theme parks, malls, and anywhere groups split up. Thanks!

Great idea. My sister and I utilized our cell phones just this past weekend when we visited the B&O Railroad for Disney’s A Christmas Train Tour. I stood in line while she took the kids around. The only way for her to find me in between the aisles of the trains was to call each other via our cells phones. Plus is was also a great way to let her know how close I was getting to the front of the line, etc. Without our cell phones it would have been crazy.

I don’t text but I have a lot of friends that do and they love it. Maybe I should start texting! Thanks for the great tips!

Texting does add great convenience to daily life….no more losing a family member in the mall!

Great idea. Esp with teens that don’t want to hang out with the adults.

I LOVE texting, twittering and posting pics from themeparks! Living an hour away from Disney World we go quite a bit and my phone gets a LOT of use while there. It’s also great for my kids who are now old enough to wander off by themselves (within reason) as well.
