Sometimes a busy work day means not having time to check in with my family to see where they are and what they’re up to. So I recently added a trial of AT&T’s FamilyMap service to our family plan. Watch the video below to see just how easy it is for me to check in on my daughter.

It was very informative. Great idea for keeping track of our families. Not foolproof with some teens, but a super idea. Would it help me find my cell phone if I missplaced it? Or help police with a stolen purse or a missing child, the uses are endless!!

Wow, I would have jumped on this when my oldest was a teenager! I think it is a great idea.

Becky,
This was great information. We all tend to take what our kids say at face value. This gives us a way to confirm what they tell us.
Thanks a bunch, Pal.

Raise your hand if you’re suddenly glad cell phones weren’t around when you were a teenager.
Do you think it’s too early to sign up my five-year old? I’ll be all over this in a few years!

Becky,
WOW! When Kelley returns home from school for good, that would be awesome as she would be riding VIA trans and I am really nervous about her being out. What a fabulous concept. Oh, and I don’t consider it spying either!

I am with Leigh – very grateful that this wasn’t around when I was a teen
However, it is pretty cool espcially when applied to safety issues like Dana mentioned.

IF I had kids I’d be on this so fast!!! Wish the world was a little safer for our kids but with this, you can know where they are at all times (well almost!).
Question – can you add other cell phone users that are not ‘family’….like your kids friend(s)so if your child’s cell phone gets lost or battery goes dead you could track by who they are supposed to be with…..

…and I thought my prayers had been answered when my cell phone started telling me where I was!

That’s a wonderful idea. As soon as my kiddies are a little more independent I’ll be ready to sign on. The dotted line.

As a grandma, I’m wishing this had been around when my girls were teens. And I’m betting that Cris will be interested in Family Map. I’m sending her the link.
It is nice that Dana thought of some less CIA-like uses!

Wow, Becky, I love this feature. I needed this years ago when my daughters were teens. I know my oldest will want this for their teenager now and for the one to come. Thanks, Sherry

This would have caused me some serious issues as a teen…so glad this nifty little feature wasn’t available at that time!
That said, I’m glad this technology will be around when my kids are old enough to be out without mom and dad!
Thanks for the info, Becky!!

I had heard about this but didn’t actually know how it worked. Thanks for the info!! I can see this feature keeping a lot of kids out of trouble and danger even though they may not see it that way at the time.

Becky,
Thanks!! That is a wonderful way to be a great parent!! I would like to use this service but it probably costs something. It would help me know which phone to call–home or cell or work.

Becky,
I jumped on this feature as soon as it came out, so that I could “monitor” my teenage son as well. Love it!!!
My question to you is, do your children know you have it? I have managed to keep this a secret from my son, but wondering if that is the right decision.
